Apple is most important commercial fruit and widely produced in the world on fourth no after banana, orange, and grapes. Apple production is mostely grown in the indian state of J&K, Himachal pradesh, Uttarakhand , Andra Pradesh and Nagaland etc. Himachal is 2nd largest producer of apple after J&k.

In 1915 Samuel stoke (satyananda stoke https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satyananda_Stokes ) heard about the red delicious apple patented by the stark brother nursery in louisiana during america visit. he bring some sample in India in 1916 and planted his orchad Barobagh / Thanedhar/ Kotgarh/Shimla in the winter. few years later apple fruits were sold 1926. and till date continue in mass production every year.

Pre-cooling/grading/packing:-
Apple need pre-cooling and should free from surface moisture before grading by size or defect like bird bite and packing in carrugated box, weight of box usually rest in apple packed 10 to 25 kg . then sell in market , market is mainly managed by govt. or private agencies, where owner sell direct. othervise they carry direct in to mandi of shimla, chandigarh or delhi also kolkata or mumbai.
